Granny's birthday

Tomorrow my Granny Kate will be 12 years old. She looks very young for her age and she can run faster than almost all of us. She is pleased to be a Great Grandma to my puppies. Today was lovely and sunny and so I was able to sit outside the dining room with the French windows open. From there I could see back into the room to keep an eye on the children. When they are older, they will be able to come outside with me and play in the sun.

I will try to get a photograph of Granny with her birthday cake on my blog soon. M

fat puppies and congratulation cards

Here I am again feeling slim and all light. I can even almost jump up onto the kitchen table. I'll keep practicing that. These pups are very nice and they look a bit like fat little hippos to me. Yesterday daddy took more photos and he said that he would put them on the website soon. Today the rain was so much that there was a waterfall on the road. Mummy went to the Royal Welsh show with Auntie Anne and Uncle Phil and bought lots of really smelly cheese for daddy. I had a congratulations on the birth of your puppies card yesterday! I was very pleased and they have put the card up on Grandma's dresser. Lots to do:I'll have to go now and wash the puppies.

my puppies have arrived!

On Wednesday, we were up early again because daddy was going to yet another show. He took mummy Calypso, Uncle Jethro,Vijay and Cousin Solly. It was a long way away but that was ok because mummy was here to look after the rest of us. Anyway, not long after breakfast, I started having twingey pains in my tummy and I didn't want to do much,I slept lots of the day and I think mummy felt a little bit nervous.
Daddy and the others came back just after eight and my first puppy arrived about 10 minutes after! It did hurt a bit, but the puppies are very nice. The last one was born on Thursday morning, so it was quite a long time.
Daddy has put some photos on the website, but he didn't give me chance to tidy myself up. Gareth the vet came to give the puppies and me the once over on Friday morning and he said they were lovely puppies. He said I look very good after having the puppies! Mummy and daddy are fussing around: they say grandparents can be very annoying, but they do try very hard and they do their best I'm sure.

A really interesting parcel

Today we didn't get up too late because daddy and mummy had to go to the garage to pick up the car. The garage man whose name is John is clever and he repaired the wipers so that daddy can go to more shows. After they came back from the garage the postman came and rang the doorbell. He is a new postman and he did laugh when he heard the cuckoo sound that the doorbell made. Anyway, he gave daddy a big sausage shaped parcel which smelt lovely. I couldn't place the small and then all of a sudden I did! It came from my Auntie Claire who is mummy's human daughter from London and she has my auntie Ellie living there with her and uncle Mark. It was her that I could smell on the parcel!
Mummy undid the parcel and told us that it was a bed roll. None of us had any idea what it was for and then Granny found out that they are going to take turns sleeping with me after the puppies are born. Honestly I despair of ever getting any privacy in this house, but they do mean well and I'm sure that they don't mean to be annoying!

Baby alarms and bouncing boys

It's been very busy here today and the sun has been shining all day. First of all, Cousin Solly woke up and started shouting about going down the field. When mummy and daddy got up, it was really late, about half past seven. We all went down the yard first then down the field where I puffed my way around while Vijay swooped and pirouetted around me-he makes me sick when he does that. After our breakfast, mummy and daddy were talking about a baby alarm and Mummy Calypso told me they used it when Vijay and I were babies to listen to us if they had to go into another room. That seems rather rude to me.
Cousin Solly has settled in well and does lots of bouncing in the dog yard. Boy dogs really have no idea at all what us girls go through when expecting puppies. I certainly cannot bounce very well these days!

Raining again

We got up very early today because daddy was taking Vijay, Uncle Jethro and Mummy Calypso to a show. It was pouring with rain and so we all just ran out quickly to the dog yard and then back in.When they were ready to go, mummy got cross and so did daddy because someone's sheep had got out of where ever they should have been and they had made a very big mess on the road. They went to the car and only Vijay got it on his feet so he had to be cleaned up before they went.
On the way back with four dogs (because as I told you cousin Solly is coming to stay) the windscreen wipers broke on the car. I didn't know what they were so, I asked Auntie Faith and she told me. I've never noticed them when I've been in the car.
I seem to be fatter tonight than this morning and when I saw myself in the mirror, I wondered for a minute who on earth it was! Still, not long to go now

home alone ( well almost)

Yesterday Granny Kate told me that mummy and daddy were going out in the evening with Auntie Anne and Uncle Phil. Uncle Phil is mummy's brother and Auntie Anne is his wife. They all went to take some photos outside the church where mummy and daddy got married a long time ago. Vijay and I watched television and Uncle Jethro listened to music in the sitting room. I am finding it very difficult to get comfortable and I've now got a new sort of suede dog bed called a napsack. It's very comfortable and I can stretch out full length on it.
I seem to be eating lots of times a day and that's fine by me. Eat your heart out Victoria Beckham!!!

An early start!

The day started really well and we all shouted loudly before 6AM to wake mummy so that she could get ready for work. She got up, but she was a bit huffy because of course she has finished school for the summer. I remembered as soon as I saw her. Anyway, we all went out and the sun was shining. We had a good run in the field but I'm getting a bit slower and I don't want to joggle the puppies around too much!
This afternoon, mummy and daddy took granny down the river walk and granny told us all about the waterfall and the little beach. When the puppies are born I'm going to take them there every day.

feeling fat and frumpy

Well, we seem to all have annoyed mummy again! Someone started fussing to go out at 4AM so we all started barking to go out. The plan was to let us all out and go back to bed for an hour or so, but by the time that the 12 of us had been out, mummy said she was wide awake so she had a cup of coffee and started the cleaning. We all went for a run so that was ok, but I am finding it difficult to keep up with Vijay with the puppies wriggling in my tummy. I also nearly got stuck trying to get through a space where I usually fit. Anyway the housework took ages and then we had our food. It's lovely to have so much more than usual to eat. I hope that I can always eat like this, but I doubt it.
i forgot to tell you that my boyfriend got 1st in his class yesterday so that's good. Got to have something to eat now.

A strange day

I didn't write yesterday because it was a funny day with lots of comings and goings and really the goings made me feel sad. Actually Granny Kate said that no-one would miss my blog anyway and not to be so big headed. Anyway, the first thing was we had to get up before 5AM because mummy was taking mammy Calypso to a show. I remember getting trimmed and bathed for shows and it was fun: So was sharing Daddy's lunch, but none of that's going to happen for a long time. Anyway I was very angry with mummy when I heard the car start up because she was leaving me, even though I thought she would come back. Uncle Jethro, who also loves shows hooted and fussed after they went because he is Mummy Calypso's brother and they spend ages talking to each other. Anyway, daddy was here for a while so we went for a run and had breakfast. Then he got ready too and later on, he went away to judge other boys and girls. During the day, Vijay and I chased a fly and someone knocked over the fan in the dining room and an arm chair!
When mummy came home, she was not happy about the chair or the fan because we could have been hurt. Sometimes she's no fun.
Mummy Calpso told us that cousin Solly had bounced too much in the ring, but he did get a reserve in one class. Mummy Calpso didn't get anything and she said that she had felt sick in the ring. She was sick when she came home, so mummy had to wash everywhere with disinfectant in case I caught it. I think she must have eaten a fly. Daddy didn't come home because of the judging and I missed him. I went to bed after my toast.

last day of term for mummy so I'm very happy

Yesterday Granny Kate told me that mummy has school holidays starting on the 5th July and she doesn't have to go to work until September, although I don't know why she goes anyway. I think I would like it better if she stayed here to play.

Last night the puppies were very wriggly and I couldn't get comfortable. Every time I dozed off, one of them kicked me. Now, I may be old fashioned, but I don't think that kicking your mum is very polite. I asked mum Calypso and she said the puppies have to stretch their legs somehow. They do so much kicking that they must have very stretched legs!

The weather today is much better so far and we ran in the steep field without getting too wet apart from our feathering which was very soggy. I get very tired and hungry running so I'm off to eat now.

My cousin is coming to stay!

Yesterday I was having a well deserved nap when I heard Daddy talking on the phone to a lady called Jackie. It sounded intereting and so I listened intently but a lot of it didn't make sense. Anyway, I asked Uncle Jethro if he knew what was going on, because he usually does. He said that Solly ,who Mummmy and Daddy own with Jackie and who is great fun is coming to stay with us for a holiday. The thing is, I hope that he knows about my puppies or he is going to call me a fat girl and then I'd be annoyed with him.
Today, mummy Calypso is having a bath ready for a show: the funny thing is that the show was supposed to be in Usk, but had to move to England because of floods. I think I'd like to go as I'm getting a bit fed up here and I haven't seen any of my friends for a few weeks.
Still, at least I'm getting lots of nice food and being a bit spoiled too. I hope I can eat as much as this when I am back to normal.

Toast and honey before bed!

Last night after we'd all got ready for bed, I was still feeling hungry. I rushed into the pantry when mummy was putting things away and shouted at her. Luckily she seemed to understand what I said and I heard her asking daddy whether he thought that I should have anything else to eat because to tell you the truth, I am eating rather a lot. Anyway, they decided that wholemeal toast and honey would be good for me. It was lovely; When it was being made though, Vijay was hooting because he liked the smell. so he had a little bit too. It was funny when Granny Katie ran in to the kitchen with her nose up in the air sniffing the nice smell. She didn't have any which is only fair because she may be going to North Wales on Monday if it's not wet ,with mummy. I'm not sure if they will get washed away and I hope that they won't be lonely or get lost and I hope that they come back safely.

Mum Calypso is going to a show on Saturday but daddy is going somewhere to judge other girls and boys so he can't go. Uncle Len is going to take her into the ring, and I am thinking that I wish I was going because I love shows so I will go after the puppies are born.

Sunshine and having fun.

Today when we got up I saw through the kitchen doors that the sun was trying to come out of the clouds! I told Vijay that it was going to be sunny and he was happy too. When Granny Katie, Uncle Morri and Auntie Billie had been for a good run in the field it was my turn and Vijay's of course. I like running up the steep slope of the field with him because he is funny, but I usually win. Today though, the puppies were a bit heavy and I couldn't run quite as fast as usual. I'll just have to let him win for now and concentrate on being gorgeous.

When we came up from the field, we were very wet even though the sun was still out so we had to be dried with the hairdryer before getting chilly. Daddy had to dry all 12 of us; I wondered if the puppies could feel the warm hairdryer.

Today I heard mummy say that someone had left an old bed in the lane leading up to our farm: That seems a funny place to leave your bed and she was cross. Speaking of bed, time for another nap.

Thinking of names and mummy's gone to work

Woke up today feeling ready for a gallop in the field ( I'm not quite as fast as I was though) but the rain was pouring down. Granny Kate said that she wasn't going out in that! Daddy said we'd see what it was like later: It is later and still wet, so I thought I'd share some thoughts with you all. The puppies in my tummy are very wriggly and they kick me a lot. I found it strange to start, but now I've got used to it, it's just sort of nice.

Mammy went back to work today: she's been home for ages because she had to go to hospital. Humans take so much longer than us to get better and I think that they fuss more too. I will miss her today, but daddy's here to feed us and that's the most important thing after all.

I had another wormer treat today and Vijay is jealous: perhaps he'll get one tomorrow. I've been trying to think of names for my puppies but the nicest names are Vijay and Mesha, which Granny Kate says we can't use again because they are our names. I can't see why we can't have the same names though.

Mum Calypso told me today that my food was going to be increased a little bit again, because it said so on the chart in the book! Sounds good to me! I have to say that I hope this increasing of food goes on for ever.

Sponge cakes ,wormers and more rain

Today is raining again and it was a funny start to the day with mammy and daddy ( the human ones) counting days on the calendar and then giving me a nice treat even though I hadn't asked for it. Vijay (he's my brother and together we are called the Kray twins) didn't get one and my mum Calypso told me that they were special things called wormers that all girls take when they are expecting puppies. They taste nice anyway so I don't care what they are for.

I was sitting in the kitchen watching mammy making a cake when something kicked me inside my tummy---lots of times. Grannie Katie said it would be the puppies; I can't imagine what they are doing. Now, I 'm not a greedy girl, but if they are eating all my food, I'd better eat even more. I asked mum Calypso and she said that the humans had already increased my food and that they had a chart in a book to make sure. What's that all about? I don't need a chart to know when I am hungry.

Anyway usually, when the cake is mixed and is put into the tin, Vijay and I have the bowl to lick. We know it's not really healthy for us to share dishes with humans in case we catch things, but cake is different. What a shock today I couldn't have the bowl because mammy said raw egg in cake isn't good for expecting mums. I'm getting a bit fed up with this sort of attitude because much as I love my humans, what do they know about raw egg, having puppies or anything.

I've been looking out of the terrace doors in the dining room and thinking about sheep. They are sheltering from the rain by the barns and I can see them with their babies, which were born in March. They are quite big now but still follow their mummies around ALL day and probably ALL night too. What I was thinking was, they had their babies without any fuss and they look fine to me and they look fine to the humans too. I think if my puppies followed me round all day and all night for ever, I might get fed up. The sheep don't though............. now I'm tired so I'll have a well deserved nap before lunch. M
